Concrete Poem for English IV

Ignite you with my fire as I breathe in your essence

Leave me now, but leave only the faint scent of your stay

Open my spirits, run through my blood, close my eyes, and lift me

Vaguely will I again remember this experience, but for the moment, just stay

Each breath I take is one I lose, but when you’re in my loss, I’m led astray

Mountains we’ve climbed, and the rivers we’ve crossed, the altitude you bring me is nothing compared

Arising sunsets and sleeping with the moon, your fingers in mine illustrate our passion blazing

Red roses are in my view, but it’s you I would rather. Although often distant from sight, trust, I know you from a mile away

Illegal are we, but no one is looking. Don’t run, I’ll walk with you until you’re at rest

Jars of glass we use to conceal our secrets, covert areas we inhabit to set them on fire

Understand that you’ve surpassed my lungs and circulated through the capillary veins to my heart

Another night goes unwritten in the books; ink without pen, wine without glass, mixed with you, you’re almost lethal

Never have I experienced a love like this, the knowledge I’ve learned within myself has been emit by you

Always, you will be there, for your trace has been buried deep into the wool of my favorite sweater…
